Anniversary: Katie + Eric

It is with such great joy that I wish a very happy one year wedding anniversary to two clients turned dear, dear friends! I can honestly say that I just don't know where I'd be with out Katie. She and her amazing husband - and her super sweet family - have become like a second family to me, and I am so, so grateful to have such amazing brides like her! This wedding was so much fun in so many ways - from the people to the design! Our sweet bride is a lover of Kate Spade style, which was at the core of our design. Effortless, fun, preppy, modern, & classic style were all words we kept in mind when pulling together Katie's wedding design. I love the mixture of clean lines and graphic patterns with use of unique floral textures in the centerpieces. The Mint Museum Uptown was the perfect location for this modern art loving couple! I absolutely loved seeing their wedding shared recently on Wedding Chicks - check out the full feature here in case you missed it!

I am sharing just a few of my favorite photos from Katie and Eric's wedding day, beautifully captured by Lauren Rosenau Photography. You can see more from my other post about Katie and Eric's wedding here and here.

I cannot believe it's already been one year since this sweet couple said "I Do"! Time really does fly when you're having fun with your best friend - Am I right you two?! I am so grateful that Katie sent me an email back almost 3 years ago. (It is still one of the nicest, sweetest inquiry emails I've ever received!) I hope you have a very happy one year anniversary and enjoy celebrating together! I wish you all best as you relive one of the best days ever - and I wish you many, many more years of wedded bliss! Love you both tons & tons!

XO,
A.

Anniversary: Whitley + Darian

Hard to believe it has been a one year since this dashing couple said I do in a beautiful riverside ceremony at Brakefield at Riverwalk and celebrated among family and friends in one of the most glamorous spaces we've every transformed! I absolutely loved every single second of working with Whitley and Darian to help them plan for their big day! And we were so honored to see this wedding be published on Style Me Pretty, in the Carolina Bride book and in the summer issue of Carolina Bride magazine! Style Me Pretty even named Whitley and Darian's wedding one of their favorite NFL weddings on SMP! We LOVE it! Take a peek at a few of my favorite photos from their wedding day captured by Lauren Rosenau Photography.

It is so great to take a look back ... this wedding was so much fun and simply stunning! Bringing our bride's vision to life was so rewarding! And I know it's been an exciting first year of marriage for this sweet couple! Wishing you many, many more years of bliss! Cheers to you, Mr. & Mrs. Stewart! xoxoxo!

Wedding Inspiration: Vibrant Sophistication at the Mint Museum Uptown

I am so excited to share this design board with you today! Our lovely couple fell in love with the gorgeous Sam Francis painting at in the Atrium at the Mint Museum Uptown while planning for their May wedding. In fact, they loved it so much that it became the inspiration behind our vibrant wedding design! Our artistic design board includes an elegant mix of both modern and romantic aesthetics. We've included clean lines and minimalistic elements with some floral lines that are architecturally inspired and asymmetric in construction, and then mixed in with more lush centerpieces, using flowers that speak to a more delicate and feminine feeling to contrast the masculinity of the modern touches. I love this look of sophisticated elegance inspired by such a gorgeous piece of art! (And y'all know I love to play with color!)

Like most couples, details have been an important part of M & S's wedding, and I have loved working with these two and their awesome vendor team to create a truly unique wedding, that a perfect reflection of them. It all started with the key that was used to "lock in their love" on the famous love lock bridge in Paris - where this amazing couple were engaged! I seriously cannot wait to show y'all how else we'll be using they key! :)

I'm so excited to be a part of M & S's big day - they are seriously the BEST! - and I cannot wait to celebrate them in just a few short months! I hope you enjoy this little peek into their wedding design.

XO,
.

PS. I couldn't resist sharing a photo their Save The Date.... how awesome is this?! Thanks to Carrie and her team at Pink Toast Ink! I love the use of the key and we even included one of their favorite quotes... of course keeping the key theme going on!

Just Married: Jackie O Inspired Wedding

Lauren and Will's classic and elegant Uptown Charlotte wedding at the Charlotte City Club will always be one of my favorite's. I fell in love with this dashing couple from the moment we met - and boy, oh boy are they easy to love! I had an absolute blast getting to know this sweet couple and their family as we planned for their August wedding. Working with this dream couple was so awesome - can we do again, already?!

Our lovely bride wanted a classic wedding, inspired by Jackie O, in a neutral color palette of ivory and cream, silver, and navy that was luxurious and stylish, yet simple and timeless. The dining room of the City Club was filled with candles and candelabras to bring in the feeling of an intimate dinner party among friends.  As we began designing, Lauren mentioned a wedding that would "stand the test of time", just like Jackie O's fashion. I just loved her inspiration!

Here's a fun fact about this couple: even though they both grew up not far from each other in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, and had mutual friends, they didn't actually meet until Lauren took a trip to Charlotte to visit a friend! So, given that they met and now live in the Queen City, we incorporated the Charlotte skyline into their invitation suite by Elisabeth Rose - just wait til you see how gorgeous it is! Even their stunning wedding portraits were taken in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. It was important to the bride and groom that their families and friends traveling in for their wedding would be able to experience Charlotte, so they chose to keep the celebration Uptown with a ceremony at St. Peter's Catholic Church, followed by dinner and dancing at the gorgeous, and oh so classic, Charlotte City Club

Oh and our bride and groom have a shared love/obsession of sports, so the brand new BB&T ballpark was the perfect location for their rehearsal dinner... And we even snuck in a sweet little engagement session with their photographer, Lauren Rosenau Photography.  Here's a little peek... aren't they just the cutest couple ever?!

I'm so excited to share a few details from Lauren and Will's wedding with you today! I want to first thank all the talented vendors that helped give this amazing couple such an incredible wedding day:

Family heirlooms were important to Lauren. As the bride finished dressing, the mother of the groom gave her a few special pieces - the hospital cap that her husband to be wore as a baby and a family poem. Lauren pinned the hospital cap to the inside of her gown as her something "old". Another special heirloom tied to the bride's bouquet was a pendant her Uncle bought for her mother while he was deployed in Europe. Lauren said, "She always treasured it and I wanted to have something of his with me to honor him."

I love Lauren's face here.... such a priceless expression!

Seriously, how much do you love these portraits?! Lauren is just the most gorgeous bride ever and Will looks incredibly handsome! I can't get enough of these two!

After the first dance, our beautiful bride changed into a fun party dress that was perfect for dancing! This reception was definitely one of my absolutely favorites, and it had me wanting to jump on the dance floor to join in on all the fun!!

Love our brides killer style! She changed into an adorable romper for the sparkler exit. They made a getaway in a pedicab, and then headed out into the night to meet friends to continue the party! Don't you just love these pedicab photos?!

Lauren and Will, you are two of the sweetest people I've ever met! I enjoyed every second working with y'all. Thank you so much for choosing The Graceful Host to be a part of your wedding and for trusting me to bring your vision to life! Love you both to pieces! I hope one day your grandchildren will look through  your wedding and talk about how classic & timeless your wedding looked with that Kennedy-inspired style! Or maybe they'll just mistake you for a famous Ralph Lauren fashion model, because you totally could be! :)

A.

Just Married: City Chic Wedding at the Foundation For The Carolinas

Jackie and Daniel are one of the most FUN couples I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Their huge smiles say it all! Working with this fabulous couple to design a modern and sweet wedding full of chic elements was such a blast! We combined soft, romantic details with a structured, clean aesthetic to create a playful mix of both feminine and masculine to reflect Jackie and Daniel's individual styles. I fell in love with their color palette of raspberry, blush, gunmetal grey, and ivory right away! Seeing all the details come together for this sweet bride and groom was such a treat. These two couldn't be more smitten with each other - I loved watching them celebrate all night!

Huge thanks to an all-star team of vendors that helped make Jackie and Daniel's wedding day so incredible! Working with talented, high quality professionals like this group is seriously the key to a flawless wedding! Thank y'all for all your hard work!

I love seeing my couples just after they've said "I Do"! One of my biggest highlights of the wedding day! From this point on, we switch into party mode and celebrate all night long! Nothing better than that, right?! :) Thanks for snapping this moment, Lucy & Steven!!

Rather than tossing the bouquet, the bride and groom gave a bouquet to the groom's grandmother and the two shared a dance before the dance floor officially opened. It was such a sweet moment!

It's always a great night when the bride takes over the mic and raps.... the guests went wild! Jackie and Daniel's reception was one of the best parties of the year! Huge thanks to Split Second Sound for always being so amazing!

Before the grand exit, Jackie and Daniel snuck away with the photographers to fit in some great portraits!

Congratulations, you two - and thank you so much for trusting me with your big day! Cheers to happily ever after!

Featured: A Whimsical and Romantic Wedding at the Mint Museum Uptown

I am over the moon to see Katelyn and Phillip's summer wedding at the Mint Museum Uptown featured on Style Me Pretty! Honored and humbled just skims the surface of how I felt when this amazing bride changed her wedding date to hire me as her planner after finding out that I was already booked for her original intended date. Working with these two was a breeze and so much fun! There was definitely no shortage of laughter at each meeting. Katelyn came to me with a vision of a vintage romance and elegance, and we married her style (Ha! Pun intended, of course!) with Phillip's artistic and minimalistic aesthetic. It's always a fun challenge when a bride and groom have different styles to create a wedding design that fits both their needs. The outcome is without a doubt one of my all-time favorites!

Be sure to head over to Style Me Pretty to see the full feature by clicking here. And check out this blog post for more behind the scenes and photos from Katelyn and Phillip's big day! K + P, thank you so much, again for allowing me to be a part of your big day! It was such an honor!

Engaged: Shelby and Jordan

This sweet couple just melts my heart! Shelby and Jordan's parents actually live across the street from each other. One day the cute boy across the way and the girl next door met, and the rest was history!

I absolutely adore this bride and her family! We've been having a blast planning their June wedding at Foundations For The Carolinas. I can't wait to share the details of their design plan soon! But for now, look at this adorable engagement session from Smitten and Hooked

These two are huge panthers fans.... so, of course the had to include their love of football and Charlotte!

Aren't these just the sweetest engagement photos?! Congrats, Shelby and Jordan! Just 7 more months until the big day!

Just Married: A Whimsical Navy and Green Uptown Wedding at the Mint Museum Uptown

It is so hard to believe that just a few months ago this sweet couple, Katelyn and Phillip, were married. I'll never forget my first phone call from Katelyn. This busy bride-to-be knew that she needed a planner, and she'd do whatever it would take to get one - even changing her wedding date so that she could book me! Honored and humbled just skims the surface of how I felt when this amazing bride said that she couldn't imagine getting married without my help.

Working with these two was such a blast. There was no shortage of laughter at each meeting! Katelyn came to me with a vision of a vintage meets whimsical meets elegance wedding inspiration that had no shortage of personal touches and was big on family traditions. (We've got two Italian-Irish Catholic families here, y'all!) So with this inspiration in mind, I worked with her to create something unique and beautiful in a color palette of navy, cream and kelly green. The end result was seriously so beyond my wildest imagination - and the bride and groom were equally as wowed! Their reaction to seeing the reception space for the first time was one of my favorite moments of the year! I just love these two to pieces and I was so happy that they chose me to help them design and plan their perfect wedding day. Take a peek at some of my favorite photos from their beautiful summer wedding by the incredibly talented Lauren Rosenau Photography.

And don't miss Katelyn and Phillip's wedding featured on Style Me Pretty!

Just Married: Martha + Matthew

With fall wedding season in high gear, it's been a while since I've posted a real wedding! So, we're going to get back into the blogging spirit with Martha and Matthew's colorful and fun wedding! This bride is about as sweet as can be in every way. And the groom is totally goofy and fun-loving. I loved working with these two!! As we started to dive into planning, Martha - like so many brides - had a lot of trouble defining her style. She knew what she liked and didn't liked, but didn't know how to put her style into words. As a wedding planner and designer, thats my job! I'm here to help my brides and grooms sort through their Pintrest photos and magazine clippings, and define a cohesive style that will be carried out from start to finish. And, so that's exactly what we did together! Our end result was perfectly them in every way. We incorporated bits of sparkle and glitter, bright and vibrant colors, and unique hand-made elements into the design. Even their reception menu was a reflection of Martha and Matthew - the two have a love of Chinese and Asian food, so we incorporated a number of the couples' favorite dishes into their menu. It was important to incorporate unique and untraditional aspects into the wedding day. So this couple opted against tradition and didn't have a bridal party! With family and friends traveling in from all over the world to celebrate their marriage, Martha and Matthew went for an adorable chalk globe so that guests could "leave their mark". I loved how one of their guests - who are from Germany - surprised this sweet couple with one of the German wedding traditions, which is to do a project together after the wedding ceremony. So, Martha and Matthew cut out a gigantic heart from a sheet and then hopped through the center together into their future as Mr. and Mrs. Hogge!

The entire wedding day was absolutely perfect and so much fun! And thanks to an incredible team of vendors, Martha and Matthew had an amazing day celebrating with family and friends.

Engaged: Christi + PJ

It's finally Christi + PJ's wedding week! This adorable couple will be traveling down from Boston, Massachusetts to beautiful Asheville, North Carolina in a few short days to say "I Do" at the Omni Grove Park Inn. Christi and PJ knew they wanted to have a fall wedding in the mountains, and the stunning views at the Grove Park Inn won over their hearts. We've had so much fun planning their intimate, fall-inspired wedding full of lush cranberry and golden tones. I cannot wait to head up to Asheville in a few short days to celebrate this fun-loving couple! In the mean time, as I finalize some of their wedding details, I'm excited to share Christi + PJ's beautiful engagement session from Lauren Friday Photography! I love how these two fit so perfectly together - their love is just so sweet! Cheers to the best week ever, you two!

Anniversary: Morgan + Mike

Today, I'm having so much fun reliving Morgan + Mike's wedding! Hard to believe it's been one year since this beautiful bride and handsome groom said I Do. This architectual-inspired grey and white wedding at the Atrium at Byron's SouthEnd was so much fun to create! I loved working with Morgan, who is just so incredibly sweet. What a wonderful experience it was to work with such a great friend to help her plan and design the perfect day. But, even though the entire day was absolutely flawless, Mother Nature decided to RSVP - but that didn't dampen our bride and groom's spirits one bit! (Who ever said rain on your wedding day can't be incredibly romantic hasn't seen these beautiful photos from the talented Sarah Whitlow of Two Cents Photography!)

Anniversary: Brandy + Greg

Hard to believe it's been just one year since Brandy and Greg said I do on a simply beautiful day at Vesuvius Vineyards! Working with this sweet bride was a dream come true! I love a girl that knows just what she wants. We created a truly unique design with Brandy's inspiration of Southern charm meets vintage, and all the details came together perfectly.  The bride and groom wanted to add as much fun and whimsical details as possible. So we dreamed up special touches like musical instruments for each guest for the ceremony send-off, Izze sparkling soda escort cards, and county fair-inspired cupcakes in lieu of a wedding cake.

I absolutely loved this wedding! (Click here for more photos.) How fun it is to relive such an amazing day! Cheers to one year of bliss ... and wishing you many, many more years!

Just Married: Katie + Eric, Part 2

I'm beyond excited to finally share all the gorgeous reception details from Katie + Eric's wedding. Last week I shared part one, with all the beautiful details of getting ready, the first look, and of course, their sweet wedding ceremony. But today, it's time to party and roll out all the fabulous details of their Mint Museum Uptown reception! From the moment we met, I fell head over heels for Katie's amazing style. I love the chic and modern twist we created on such a fresh and preppy color palette of navy blue, ivory, and kelley green. Katie is a lover of Kate Spade, so we incorporated some geometric patterns to give this design that extra pizazz. I'm absolutely obsessed with the end result of this wedding design! From the draping to the hanging lampshades to the custom made runners to the fabulous centerpieces, the whole look was totally Katie and totally perfect. What more could you ask for? And this incredible bunch danced all night long - it was definitely one of the most fun receptions we've ever seen. Take a peek at my favorite details!

Just Married: Katie + Eric, Part 1

When I think of Katie and Eric, this lyric comes to mind: "I've heard it said, that people come into our lives for a reason". These two are so special to me. We've become such great friends since we started planning for their wedding back in 2012, and I honestly can't imagine my life without these two. (Oh man - that sounds so heavy for a blog post.... But, it's the truth.) This beautiful bride and handsome groom have become part of my family and I absolutely adore them. I've been holding on to their stunning wedding photos because I wanted to be able to find the right words to introduce this wedding. You know how you meet a couple you just think, oh yeah - they're perfect for each other! That's Katie and Eric. Two peas in a pod - or to use a food reference that Eric would approve of, "they go together like eggs and bacon". Katie describe her favorite things as clean lines, Kate Spade-inspired, effortless simplicity, & patterns. So with these ideas and a beautiful color palette of navy, green and ivory, we designed one of my favorite weddings to date. I'm truly in love with the unique spin we created on such a classic color palette, and how this wedding can be described as many things - preppy, modern, classic... you name it! Working with Katie to plan for her big day was more than a joy. I'm so lucky to have incredible clients like these two that I now call friends.

Without further adieu, I'm just itching to share this gorgeous wedding with you today! There are just so many wonderful details that we created, I've had to split this wedding into two posts. A huge thanks to an amazing team of talented vendors that gave this amazing couple the wedding day of their dreams:

Bridal Portraits: Lauren

Now that this gorgeous bride is finally a Mrs., I am so excited to share her bridal portraits from Love Shutter Photography! We had an absolute blast celebrating Lauren and Chris - the new Mr. & Mrs. Littmann - over the weekend in a beautiful and intimate wedding at Founder's Hall in uptown Charlotte.  I've been holding on to these photos of this stunning bride for months... Not an easy thing to do, y'all! Doesn't Lauren look absolutely breathtaking?!  I loved having the opportunity to work with this sweet bride and her mom.... I enjoyed every second of planning and getting to know this beautiful bride! Enjoy a few of my favorite photos from Lauren's bridal portrait session at the lovely Duke Mansion.

Just Married: Taylor + Kyle

I really do adore this sweet bride and groom! Their colorful May wedding at First Presbyterian Church and Byron's SouthEnd was one I had been looking forward to for months and months. What could be more perfect than a citrus inspired wedding! I'm pretty much in love with this bright and cheery color palette of yellows, oranges, pinks and mint. It just screams pure joy, right?! A perfect reflection of our bride's sunny personality! I loved working with this incredible couple... They were so easy going and fun to be around! Taylor is just as sweet and lovely as she looks in all of these gorgeous photos. And we had an amazing vendor team that brought all of Taylor and Kyle's dreams to life! Many, many thanks to the amazing Lauren Rosenau Photography for capturing all the details of this gorgeous day so perfectly! Enjoy a few of my favorites
